So who is Anglican Youth Ministries and what does AYM actually do?
We facilitate youth ministry in the Anglican Diocese of Auckland. We offer parishes in the Diocese of Auckland combined youth group events – both social and spiritual – as well as diocesan-wide discipleship and evangelistic camps. We also provide communications networks to promote events, resources, to share news and photos of events.
We provide youth minister networks for support, training and resources. For young leaders, we run a leadership development program called “BOLD“. We offer diocesan and national leadership opportunities for youth and young adults through The Abbey, The Grace Collective, Three Tikanga Synod and Youth Exchange.
We offer churches consultancy services, advice on safety issues, and are advocates for young people in the church and society. We support building relationships with our Three Tikanga partners, mission agencies, parachurch youth organisations and other denominational youth leaders.
Our team is:
Karen Spoelstra: Karen is our Diocesan Youth Facilitator (DYF). She loves building relationships across the diocese, has loads of experience in ministry with youth and young adults, and has the added bonus of being a mum to two young adult boys.
Mark Prendergast: Mark is our Ministry Assistant. He oversees our communications and helps with our events. He is also studying full time at teachers college, and is a voluntary youth leader at Northwest Anglican.
Wendy Leitch: Is our wonderful team administrator, she keeps the office running smoothly and makes fabulous rocky road!
