So who is Anglican Youth Ministries and what does AYM actually do?
We facilitate youth ministry in the Anglican Diocese of Auckland. We offer parishes in the Diocese of Auckland combined youth group events – both social and spiritual – as well as diocesan-wide discipleship and evangelistic camps. We also provide communications networks to promote events, resources, to share news and photos of events.
We provide youth pastor networks for support, training and resources. For young leaders, we are developing communities of practice called Senior Space. We offer diocesan and national leadership opportunities for youth and young adults through The Abbey, and Toru Youth Commission events.
We offer churches consultancy services, advice on safety issues, and are advocates for young people in the church and society. We support building relationships with our Three Tikanga partners, mission agencies, parachurch youth organisations and other denominational youth leaders.
Our team is:
Steph Brook: Steph started in February 2022 as our new Diocesan Youth Facilitator (DYF). She is known to many in the Diocese and is an outstanding appointment with her many years of experience (Youth Pastor in Epsom, Papakura and Buckland’s Beach), her Bachelor of Youth Development and her big heart for young people.
Thomas Banks: Thomas is responsible for Leadership Development. He works in the AYM office on Wednesdays and Thursdays and the rest of his week he is the Youth Pastor at Church of the Saviour, Blockhouse Bay.
Team Administrator: Our new administrator will be starting in late April.
